Seventh-day Adventists Oppose Practice of Homosexual LifestyleIt has come to our attention that in some cases, materials published through the SDA church could lead to the impression that this church condones the practice of a homosexual lifestyle. Therefore, this brief document is presented to bring clarification. Actually, Seventh-day Adventists oppose homosexuality and the practice of Homosexual Lifestyle. God's original design for sexuality as outlined in Scripture, is that of a monogamous, marital relationship between two persons, one each of the male and female gender. Persons who indicate that they are homosexual or have homosexual tendencies may experience tremendous anguish and trials, but Scripture nowhere grants them license to act out such tendencies by their practice. God's grace can give the victory and keep one from falling (Jude 23-24). None should be left in any doubt that the Seventh-day Adventist Church, while having compassion for persons so afflicted, fully and without reservation opposes the practice of a homosexual lifestyle. Some have argued for single-partner same-sex companionships, suggesting their superiority over multiple sex-partnering, and that somehow such are safer through reduction of the odds of disease transmission. However, we are compelled by Scripture to affirm that whether an immoral act is conducted with 100 people or with one person, it is sin, and will if not remedied surely result in the eternal destruction of the participant. At the same time, we do not suggest that there is any license for immoral sexual practice between heterosexual partners outside of the marital relation. A homosexual act of sin is not better or worse than a heterosexual act of sin. Therefore, we here plainly state our awareness and agreement with the teaching of Scripture, that "the judgment of God" is against homosexuality (Romans 1:22-32). Seventh-day Adventists are Bible people, and refuse to sustain the practice of a homosexual lifestyle no matter how fashionable it has become in society in general. Jesus has compassion on everyone so afflicted, and will grant you all of His mercy so that all of His healing may be received. Take courage one and all, and don't bend under the tide of error.
